In light of the current state of emergency, and pursuant to Michigan Supreme Court Administrative Order 2020-12, the 31st District Court is physically closed to the public until further notice. During this time, the Court will maintain a limited hearing schedule, including arraignments and proceedings for in-custody criminal defendants, and limited non-emergency hearings on civil and traffic matters. All other matters will be adjourned and parties will receive notice of the new date.

On criminal matters, all in-custody felony arraignments, probable cause conferences and preliminary examinations will continue as scheduled. As many proceedings as possible will be conducted remotely.

Pursuant to Michigan Supreme Court Order 2020-10, all jury trials are adjourned to a date no sooner than June 22, 2020.

All out-of-custody misdemeanor matters are adjourned. The Court will send a notice to appear once a new date has been set.

Most non-emergency civil matters are adjourned; however, many non-emergency civil matters are scheduled to be handled remotely. Parties should contact the Court and each other to coordinate a new date.

All non-emergency landlord-tenant proceedings are adjourned to a date after May 15, 2020. 

Most traffic, civil infraction and ordinance violation hearings are adjourned to a date after June 15, 2020. The Court will send all parties a notice with their rescheduled dates. The Court will handle some violations remotely starting May 18, 2020.
