Failure To Respond Or Pay

Failure to respond to any citation in the prescribed manner (payment within 14 days, or appearing in court as directed) could result in the suspension of your driving privileges and additional fees.

  • Failure to  respond to your citation within 14 days of the ticket being issued will result in a default judgment being entered and a $30 default fee being assessed. The Court will report your failure to respond to the citation to the Secretary of State, which may result in points, or the charge appearing on your driving record and your driver’s license may be suspended.
  • Failure to pay fines, costs or fees within 45 days of the due date will result in the above actions, plus the Court notifying the Secretary of State to take action against your driving privileges, and an additional $45 clearance fee will be assessed. The suspension will remain in place until the fines, costs and fees are paid in full.
  • Failure to pay  fines, costs or fees within 56 days of your appearance date or due date will result in the above fees plus an additional 20% late penalty fee being assessed. This late penalty fee is 20% of  the total amount owed.
